Some of the thoughts I found most thought provoking were Bob Lutz' comments about GM being in the art business, the Rainbow Project, and the information on MBAs and MFAs. Reading this really made me think about my own teenage daughters and what the future holds for them. I found as I was driving around town I was thinking , "Is that person's job still going to be here?"
Since I believe we will have to wait on state standards to change if we are going to change what we teach, immediate changes can be made in the ways we teach.
Great job on the wordle, Kris. I find myself wondering about jobs now too and the affect on my sons and their future children. I agree with Kris that we will have to wait on state standards to change, but in the meantime, we must change the ways that we teach.
ReplyDeleteI guess all of us with chilren have the same concerns. Since I feel we are still in an in between stage what do we tell our kids. I know that I have stressed good grades, but do not make that the focus of theirs lives. I want my kids to be well rounded and enjoy extracurricular activities as well, but getting good grades and going on to college are the tools I think will help them have the best chance at success. At least for now.
